Wow! So it's only been a month and a half later and only because my friend, Amy, pointed it out did I just realize I never posted any of the actual details from LC's "Hoot" Party! So here goes...
One of my favorite details from LC's party was getting to utilize our chalkboard fridge for decoration. No matter that my owl looked more like a Furby than an Owl, it was the thought that counts, right?
At the very beginning of the party, Jessica got a couple sweet family shots of the birthday girl that I just love and I am so appreciate of!
I look like a total DOOF here in our family picture but love LC & DW so I won't be vain.

And, of course, I have to include (on repeat) my favorite picture from the party...LC giving her "enough already, let's party" face.
LC's cousins also were able to make it to the party and she just loves these boys already...and I, honestly, just love this picture because its the first time I can really see the resemblance between LC and I that people tell me they see all the time.
Now for the details...I decided to do Tulips and buy various colored candies to put in vases for additional decorations and to color things up a little.
Early in the process I did a trial run, before setting out the cake and all the other details but I think its the only picture I got of the full room...
I wrapped the picture behind our dining room table to add some more decoration to the room without breaking the bank and loved how it turned out. Also, I took a frame we already had and put one of the invitations we sent out in it. The clock I happened to find at Target on way sale and thought it was a cute Owl-addition.
I found these cute owl pencil holders on Pottery Barn online for $7 and they made perfect utensil holders! However, these poor Tulips had a particularly rough time...and lawdy I cannot wait to get rid of those countertops one day.
LC's "Smash Cake Station"
And eventually it was gift time, which we decided to do before cake because we figured cake might get messy. We used LC's Radio Flyer wagon for her "gift" wagon and it turned out really cute but I don't have a picture that really does it justice.
...and then it was CAKE time!
All done!!!
I don't think one could assume anything other than the fact that LC luuuuuuurved her birthday cake and I know DW and I truly felt blessed to be celebrating one year of life with our little girl!

The first birthday party is a memorable one - it celebrates the life of the one we've been blessed with and is a huge milestone for mom and dad too. Glad you made some beautiful memories for all of you!
So much fun!! she DEMOLISHED that cake! Love the faceplants! My girls never went "all in" on their cake and I SO wanted them to! What a great party Mom!

oh my lanta! That picture of LC with her face in the cake....that is a must frame!!! My son would barely touch his cake when he turned 1! We had to feed it to him! Yup, he's got issues with being messy....
Looks like your girl had a wonderful party!

What a beautiful party! I love the pictures of her face in the cake! ha ha!! precious...is it wrong that Levi is only 5 months and I already have a pinterest board for birthday party ideas?! haha!
SO CUTE!!! We're planning my son's first birthday party right now, and since I just read your recent post about nutrition, I'm curious on whether LC had a gluten free cake? I'm trying to find some alternative to a traditional cake that's full of all kinds of crap. I've found I few that I'm considering, but I'm curious what y'all did. Nosy might actually be a better word! ;)
