In those first, early moments when we brought LC home, the Gotye song "Someone I Used to Know" had just come out on the radio. I loved it and shamelessly played it over and over and over many times throughout the day (especially when she was bored and upset). I probably spent hours a day holding her and dancing with music but she always seemed most content when it was this particular song...so I played it A LOT. Anything to soothe a fussy baby. Eventually, I burned out on it but she definitely did not.
I guess she now associates this song with comfort or "happy times" because if she gets super fussy in the car, and it's not for any reason like wet diaper or hungry, I can put this song on and she's immediately better. It's almost like she associates it with comfort or closeness so now we, much by accident, have a "secret weapon" in the car. If I can't "help" her, I'll put the song on and BAM...happy, comforted kid. It's like a miracle all wrapped up in a melody. I try not to play it too much and save it for the times its most needed in the car.
Today, DW and I had both phones in the car so I could play the song with one and film it with the other. This is a video I am SO glad to have gotten so I can show her this one day. I even turned it off for a second about halfway through and she clearly expresses her complete disappointment. Luuuuuurve it! And love that Custom Made baby girl...so much!

Well if that isn't the cutest thing! The girl can sure express herself. And how fun to have a song that makes her so happy :).
Oh my goodness, this is great! She's so funny :)
adorable!
Oh my gosh, that is so funny! I love that song, too!
Oh, that is so cute!!!
That is SO cute! She is so precious, and I love how she looks like 50% her mama and 50% her daddy.
Can I just say how much I love that you share WITHOUT all the ridiculous advertisements and making an income off your family and faith? I know that's random, but it means a lot to me that you do this from your heart and not as a business and for profit.
Thank you so much for sharing! Love this blog so much.
Oh my gosh, that was so sweet! She's adorable! My daughter is around the same age, so it hit home a little bit more! Thanks for sharing.
that is hilarious! i love it :)) it is going to be such a good video for you to have and look back on one day!
Oh my! That is just the cutest thing!!!!
I don't comment often but I read all your posts... We also struggled with infertility and finally got pregnant through embryo adoption...
When I was pregnant, I created a playlist of songs that spoke to me at different points in our journey. I played this playlist All. The. Time. Now, whenever I can't get my son to settle down, all we have to do it put on the playlist and bam! He's quiet! It's amazing! I'd love to get it on video one day. :)
Dude, your child has MOVES. I love it! Stella started clapping and dancing while we watched this video - she was definitely a fan. :) For us the magic song was Adele - Rolling in the Deep. Every single time in the car it would settle her down and she'd sleep. Bliss!
Her face when you turn it off is priceless!
This made me smile SO big today!!!! :)
Cute! I thought she was going to bust out the robot there at the end! :)
So cute. Let me just say I act the same way when I hear this song. ;)
OK, the little, "aw, shucks" reaction when you turn it off is too cute! I need to get a video of Julia grooving to Amos Lee since she loves him.
